Language Immersion Program
The language immersion program, which takes place in Perugia (Umbria), combines structured lessons in Italian grammar and pronunciation with both role-playing and supervised real life ‘role-playing’ to immediately use what was learned. For example, if you role-played how to make a purchase in a supermarket, you will then go to the supermarket with your teacher to do it for real! Lessons do not take place in a classroom, but rather they are held in such places as a café, a museum, a garden, a church, a theatre… Italian culture is taught through interactive language lessons in these and other cultural places. Courses are limited to 4-6 students. Students should plan to arrive on a Sunday (when a brief get-to-know-Perugia tour will be given to all students and a guest) and to depart on a Saturday (classes are held Mondays through Fridays. Students may register weekly or monthly.
A separate option: if you are going on a guided tour with ATIE, you may request language lessons for an additional fee.
Program Structure:
10:00am – 11:00am conversation with grammar and exercises
11:00am – 12:00pm conversation with comprehension and pronunciation
12:00pm – 1:00pm conversation and modeling
1:00pm – 3:00pm lunch on your own
4:00pm – 5:00pm culture activity
At least 2 evenings per week, activities (such as dinner or a special event) will be offered.
Non-refundable deposit
A 50% non-refundable deposit toward the total is required to reserve a spot
(payment accepted in personal check, money order or bank check).
The balance should be paid in euro upon arrival.

Note: Entrance fees for museums, concerts, or other activities (such as the evening activities and any travel fare are not included in the total cost.
